Mashable has reviewed ParentsConnect…what is ParentsConnect all about, Mashable puts it nicely as…

ParentsConnect is a new social network for parents that debuted at the start of this month – it was developed by MTV Networks Kids & Family Division, the creators of Nickelodeon. Despite being a brand new community, the site is already full of content and copious amounts of advertising – based on the job ads posted earlier this month (example), it seems they’re paying bloggers to seed the network and get the ball rolling.

It is another addition to the mix of pure social networking sites. It does seem like companies are following the right direction in terms of providing a need to certain demographics, like parents, who need to connect efficiently, as well as work out ways to monetize effectively for the advertiser and still provide real value to the member.

The exciting view of the future for all social networking sites is to enable communities to connect through any device, and anywhere in the real world. As parents are time precious, not time poor, I wonder how soon this will become a ‘must have’ for social networking sites? A start in this future progress is Alberta’s SuperNet, which I was privledged of listening to a talk by the CEO of Axia on his visit to Perth, Western Australia.

Pretty exciting if this happens in our state… it will also be interesting to see the positive impact on society, social networks may have in helping to connect people, and if in the future people who feel alienated or are located in rural areas will feel apart of society as a whole. Will things like depression, youth suicide decline? For parents it seems the social door are expanding.

ParentsConnect provide a service to help parents stay in touch with peers from the home…the only draw back with ParentsConnect is in the sign up process you need to input your postcode, which immediately signifies that this social community is not globally focused.

Stay tuned on ParentsConnect.
