Talking tech on Family 2.0 (a niche of Web 2.0)

Family 2.0

Posted in Family 2.0 (full list) by family2point0 on the April 11, 2006

I couldn’t help it.. I am passionate about getting the word out to parents and I am inspired by what Michael Arrington, Techcrunch is doing for the Web 2.0 space.

It’s about time someone profile cool technology sites built for families that make their lives easier (we hope)…Techcrunch just listed another Family 2.0 site the other day…Maya’s Mom so I am thinking having Talking Tech on Family 2.0 may be a helpful idea.

I will try to focus on the idea behind the sites profiled, the cool features that will get parents buzzing and discuss the ‘need’ it fulfills for the target market. I believe, Family 2.0 was a term coined by “Web Things Considered” and is a branch off from the ever popular Web 2.0 genre.

I think some people think that family stuff isn’t that cool or boring, this site may not change that view amongst others….but for those parents out there I hope to give you an insight into great places to join and be a part of a really fun playground that is Family 2.0.

See: TechCrunch, TechUncut, Web Things Considered who are talking about sites that offer the latest social technology that is creating such a buzz.

  2. [...] Now, how do I say this without sounding petty…. I was essentially the first to publicly spot the trend, nearly two months ago, so it seems like cnet should have tossed a little credit this way (and an upcoming report on the same topic will be doing so). Rachel did in her blog intro, and I appreciate that.  It’s disappointing that cnet offers no source and practically claims it as their own idea. Maybe I should’ve trademarked the term (inside joke for followers of the recent Web 2.0 controversy). Anyway, just remember, you heard it here first. [...]
